“We are very, very small.”

“We are very very small. But we are profoundly capable of very very big things.”

— Stephen Hawking

Taking a moment to acknowledge the vastness...

We visited Volcanoes National Park in Hawaii, and it was like being on another planet. South of Kīlauea volcano to the edge of island (and into the ocean) are miles of this black volcanic rock leftover from past eruptions. Looking at the texture and lines in the rock, you can just imagine how the thick magma must have moved.

I was disappointed to find that currently there is no visible lava on the island (since the eruptions last summer), but this was pretty amazing to see.
